At Chalk we provide the children with a secure and stimulating learning environment that a child needs for development.
This approach focuses on learning by experience and helps the child develop self-confidence, social skills and also foster independent thinking - making the child ready for school, and ready for life!
About Montessori
The Montessori approach to education was developed by Maria Montessori, the Italian physician, psychiatrist, and anthropologist who lived from 1870 to 1952. Dr. Montessori dedicated her life to the observation and study of children from infancy to adulthood.
In her medical practice, her clinical observations led her to analyze how children learn and she concluded that they build themselves from what they find in their environment. So she developed an environment for children where children learn at their own speed, according to their own capacities and in a non-competitive atmosphere.
The environment which she called ‘Prepared Environment’ contains specially designed, "materials for development" that invite children to engage in learning activities of their own individual choice. Under the guidance of a directress, children in a Montessori classroom learn by making discoveries with the materials, cultivating concentration, motivation, self-discipline, and a love of learning.
Children work in groups and individually to discover and explore knowledge of the world and to develop their maximum potential. It is an activity based learning methodology which focuses on the all round development of the child, it encourages ‘Learning by doing’.
